Rosneft enterprises planted over 8.3 million trees in 2023

Rosneft summarized the results of reforestation activities performed by the Company's subsidiaries in 2023. More than 8.3 million tree seedlings and saplings were planted in the Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Samara, Tyumen and Orenburg Regions, the Khanty-Mansiysk and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Districts, Udmurtia and Bashkiria during the reporting period.

Preservation of the environment for future generations is an integral part of the corporate culture of Rosneft. The Company runs a number of extensive environmental programmes and maintains a leading position in minimising its environmental footprint and making its operations environmentally friendly. The Company's approaches to forestry and reforestation are outlined in the public position "Preserving the planet for the benefit of present and future generations: sustainable forest management".

"RN-Yuganskneftegaz" planted about 3.4 million saplings of coniferous trees in 2023, doubling the amount of the previous year. The total area of the forest plantings amounted to approximately 1 thousand hectares.

Samotlorneftegaz planted 575 thousand saplings of common pine trees on an area of 157 hectares in 2023, which is an absolute record for the enterprise. In order to protect the forest from natural fires, the oilmen laid mineralized strips about one and a half meters wide along its perimeter, and installed information stands. Within the framework of landscaping of public spaces in Nizhnevartovsk, the company's employees planted 50 saplings of Siberian berry apple trees at the memorial complex "Conquerors of Samotlor". Moreover, they planted more than 1.2 thousand trees and shrubs in the city together with the activists of the Movement of the First.

Employees of Slavneft-Krasnoyarskneftegaz and Vostsibneftegaz planted over 1.5 million seedlings of spruce, pine and cedar as part of the reforestation program.

Almost 400,000 pine and Siberian spruce saplings were planted by RN-Vankor oilmen in the Usolskoye, Kodinskoye, and Tarutinskoye forestries of the Krasnoyarsk Region and the Tarkosalinskoye forestry of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. In addition, oilmen planted a rowan alley in Krasnoyarsk near the RN-Vankor office.

Last year RN-Uvatneftegaz increased the volume of reforestation activities by 63%, planting about 2 million seedlings of Siberian pine and spruce on an area of more than 550 hectares.

Bashneft employees in 2023 planted 515,000 tree seedlings on an area of over 178 hectares in the Republic of Bashkortostan. Environmental activities also took place in the Tyumen, Orenburg and Chelyabinsk Regions, and the Republic of Udmurtia.

Kharampurneftegaz is carrying out large-scale work to preserve and restore the region's natural resources. Last year, oil workers carried out landscaping of the Okunevoye Lake park in Tarko-Sale, and restored a forest in Uspenka village in the Tyumen Region, which had been damaged by a natural fire. In 2023, the company's employees planted over 40 thousand pine seedlings as part of environmental protection and nature restoration activities.

Volunteers of the Kuibyshev Oil Refinery planted 1.3 thousand oak saplings and 600 Siberian cedar saplings in the Samara Region.

Orenburgneft employees together with the Movement of the First activists planted ash and elm saplings near a busy traffic artery of one of the regional oil centers within the framework of the federal project "Forest Preservation". The Company also organized an ecological acorn harvesting campaign, collecting more than 300 kg of oak fruits with the region's residents for further sowing on the territory of the state forest fund.

Over 3,500 tree saplings of various species appeared in the Stavropolsky District of Samaraneftegaz, Samara Region, as part of Samaraneftegaz's reforestation activities. Ecovolunteers of the Syzran Refinery held several reforestation campaigns, during which they planted about 4,500 trees.

Novokuibyshevsk Refinery supported the planting of more than 300 saplings of coniferous trees - Siberian cedar, pine and spruce - on the territory of educational institutions in the Novokuibyshevsk urban district. The enterprises of Rosneft's Samara site annually take part in environmental campaigns to improve natural recreational areas - "Samara Region Springs", "We Clean the World" - and hold plogging races in the Samarskaya Luka National Park, and landscaping and beautification campaigns in the city.

Employees of Udmurtneft planted about 200 thousand spruce seedlings on the area of more than 50 hectares in different districts of the Republic of Udmurtia. Also, as part of the international environmental and patriotic action "Garden of Memory" and the federal project "Preservation of Biological Diversity and Development of Ecological Tourism", the Company's employees together with volunteers of the all-Russian Movement of the First youth organization and students of Rosneft Classes planted fir trees in the territory of the Yaganskoye forestry and oak trees in the Udmurtia Zoological Park.

Employees of the Company's research institute in Izhevsk planted 10,000 young spruce trees in the Zavyalovsky District of Udmurtia as part of the all-Russian volunteer campaign "Plant a Forest".

In 2023, Verkhnechonskneftegaz carried out reforestation work in the Irkutsk Region planting over 143,000 saplings of Siberian pine trees on an area of more than 66 hectares.

This year SevComNeftegaz and Sibneftegaz cumulatively planted over 140 thousand saplings of common pine in the Noyabrskoye forestry of the Purovsky district of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District.

Employees and their families regularly participate in various environmental events, such as Green Spring, Forest Planting Day, Save the Forest; they arrange clean-up days and clean the banks of rivers, reservoirs and springs; they support the Green Office initiative and help botanical gardens and zoos.
